Body & Skincare / Makeup / Fashion
In the body & skincare category, I’ve absolutely fallen in love with two products during February. My skin easily gets dry year-round but during autumn & especially winter, it steps up a notch & gets incredibly
Because of this, I’ve pretty much reached for any type of moisturiser every fifth minute the last couple of months. The last couple of weeks I’ve been using the CCS’ Oliva hand cream non-stop. The downside of this product is the fact that it’s a little greasy but it does its job & you still feel the effect hours afterwards. To be honest, it’s not the best hand cream in the world but it has helped my hands survive this winter, so it gets a thumbs up.
I found this one a little ironic. I was having a clean through at my makeup table a few months ago & came upon The Body Shop’s Virgin Mojito Body Scrub. Now Virgin Mojito was a limited edition range during summer & all the products in that range was made with lime & mint extracts from the Caribbean. Since it was limited edition (& during the summer) you’ll probably have to have a lot of luck if you want to get your hands on these products. But fear not, I’ve featured a lot of other body scrubs from The Body Shop in the widget.
Let’s move on to makeup. If you haven’t figured it out yet I’m all for the natural look. I’m not a huge makeup person, I prefer a bare face & if I wear makeup it’s very subtle so you barely notices it. So the fact that I’ve been loving these products the last couple of weeks actually shocks me too. I’m talking about the L’Oréal Paris Miss Manga mascara & the Volume Million Lashes mascara. Both are in my opinion very easy to apply & they give your lashes a voluminous look without being overly dramatic.
I recently visited the Monki store because I knew that they were having a big sale & I literally fell in love with a black sleeveless turtleneck (I have a thing for turtlenecks I know!). Now sleeveless turtlenecks are more autumn than spring in my head but that’s not going to stop me from wearing it nearly every single day. Can almost bet that there’s going to be an outfit post featuring that top sooner rather than later when the snow finally disappears. You can find a really similar top from Vero Moda in the widget if you fancy one yourself.
I’ve also featured my go-to look from this past weekends in the widget as well. A sweater so oversized it works as a dress plus with a pair of tights or over-the-knee knitted socks. The perfect balance of not spring yet but not full-on winter either.
TV / Movie
If you’ve watched or read a TV series recommendation from anyone who lives, have lived or have any kind of connection to the UK, you’ve heard about this. Otherwise, you’ve pretty much must have lived under a rock. I’m talking about Broadchurch. I did watch it when the first season aired here in Sweden but then for some reason I stopped. Then a couple of weeks ago I was searching through Netflix after something to watch & stumbled upon this show & was like ”I remember this, it was really good!”. I’ve been re-watching the first season for a reminder of what exactly happened so I haven’t started on season 2 yet (though I’m planning to). I totally recommend you to give it a go, if not for the mystery then for the fact that David Tennant is in it (
such a great actor!).
If you’ve been anywhere near Twitter or Snapchat, or I’ve been texting you recently, or you’ve read this article – then you should know that I’m a huge
huge huge Shawn Mendes fan. & he may or may not have announced a world tour recently. & it just so happens that I’m not going to be able to attend his Stockholm concert. So I’ve been moping around because of that & listened to this live version of Strings… quite a lot. You know, to pretend that I’m at one of his concerts – that’s completely normal, right? (When you’re still at it, listen to the live version of Kid In Love as well. It’s really great!)
I don’t actually know how I stumbled upon this. But somehow I found myself sit & read this Teen Vogue article from over a year ago. The article talks about the shooting at the church in Charleston & the hate crime that happened during that night. Even though the article is over a year old I think you should take five minutes to sit down & read it (if you haven’t already) because it takes up a few points that I know other media outlets completely ignores. You can read it here.
As you can see in one of the Instagram shots above, I read Isla and the Happily Ever After by Stephanie Perkins on my Kindle. Not going to go into too many details but I loved the book so much that I finished it in less than two days! Actually, that’s not unusual for me but I’ve been in a so-called reading slump recently so the fact that I 1. Loved the book & 2. Finished it under two days, was kind of an accomplishment. If you want my opinion on the book check either my Instagram review or my Goodreads review.
My friend Lizzie from Australia is firstly one of the nicest people I know. Second, not only is she running a fashion & beauty focused blog, she also runs two additional blogs. & I want to congratulate her because she just recently posted her first Youtube video. Feel free to imagine me sitting with pom-poms cheering on because that’s seriously what I’m doing at the moment. If you want to check her out – which I think you should – here is a link to her blog, a link to Style by Lizzie & a link to Peaceful Calm Serenity. P.S. Can we just talk about this video for a moment?
